Beckhoff launches the 'CX81xx' Embedded PC series. The first device in the series and thus the first PC-based controller in Bus Coupler format for 'Twincat 3' is the CX8190 for Ethernet. Its 32-bit ARM Cortex-A9 processor with 600 MHz provides three times the CPU performance of the 'CX8000' series. It also has eight times the RAM with 512 MByte. The embedded PC has an Ethernet port and a 2-port switch for real-time Ethernet or EAP (Ethercat Automation Protocol). The operating system is Windows Embedded Compact 7 and the small controller is programmed with 'Twincat 3' via the fieldbus interface or the additional Ethernet interface. The basic runtime function is 'Twincat 3 I/O'. Further supplements can be added optionally. The embedded PC offers a 1 s UPS for storing persistent data and a micro SD card with 512 MByte (expandable up to a maximum of 8 GByte). The operating temperature range is between -25 and +60 °C. E-bus or K-bus I/Os can be connected directly to the CPU.
