Version 11.5 of Visam's automation platform Vbase now supports MQTT, an important IOT and M2M protocol for sending messages over the Internet. The MQTT broker used can be freely selected, and Visam also offers a cloud service under VBASE.cloud. According to the manufacturer, the integration of OPC UA is another building block towards greater manufacturer independence. The role of both the OPC UA server and the client can be assumed. If desired, the platform can now send status and alarm messages directly to the smartphones of the responsible employees via the Telegram messaging service. Emails can now be encrypted using TLS for secure transmission. Secure operation of the entire project is ensured by the new access management of the server interfaces, which enables the access rights of individual participants to the process variables to be set at a fine granular level. Unauthorized participants no longer have access to the managed data. Other features of the update include SNMP support for improved network management and the integration of array variables, which now offer even more scope for very complex projects.
