ABB is presenting e-Design, a new integrated suite for planners, technicians, engineering offices, panel builders and wholesalers for the planning of low-voltage switchgear. The software is based on four existing functional modules that can be used to support all planning stages of an electrical installation: DOC (electrical calculations), CAT (selection of components and accessories), EDS (configuration of switchgear) and StriePlan (engineering of switchgear). What is new is that the tools within the e-Design suite can now "talk" to each other, or rather enable a guided process for the automatic design of switchgear based on a device list. According to ABB, this functionality simplifies one of the most complex planning phases. In-depth knowledge of ABB switchgear is not required. Changes to the initial solution can be made quickly using various control elements. Various modules support detailed planning. For example, busbar systems can be configured or the size of the switchgear can be carefully optimized, taking into account the temperature rise.
