Promicon has expanded the 'Varimotion' system to include servo controllers for small motors. Operation with mains-powered servo controllers is difficult with small motors, as the dimensions of connectors and cables require a suitable minimum size due to the high voltages and the resulting requirements for electrical insulation. In addition, the size of the motors cannot be reduced arbitrarily, as suitable insulation measures are also required here. One way out of this situation is to reduce the DC link voltage to below 70 V, which reduces the insulation requirements for the components and reduces the size of the motors, connectors and cables. As standard, the servo controllers include a parameterizable feedback interface for EnDat, Hiperface, BiSS, SSI, RS422, sine-cosine and resolver. The winding data can be freely parameterized, the DC link voltage is 20 to 70 V(DC), which also enables operation on the 24 V control voltage. Thanks to a built-in rectifier, direct connection to an isolating transformer is possible. The continuous output current is 2.5 Arms to 10 Arms, depending on the version. In addition to six inputs and four outputs, interfaces to Profinet, Profibus, Ethercat and CANopen are available. In terms of functional safety, the controllers always include a connection for safe torque off (STO) in accordance with EN 13849 PL e (SIL 3). Optionally, the motion-based functions SS0, SS1, SS2, SOS, SLS and SDI can be added.
