Infrared images and videos from the air - captured by drones, UAVs and other flying objects - are becoming increasingly important in industrial maintenance. The relaunched PI Lightweight from Optris is a kit consisting of a weight-reduced infrared camera and an equally lightweight mini PC for aerial thermography. The camera generates fully radiometric video recordings that can be started and stopped by remote control and edited afterwards. The system has a special interface for visual GoPro cameras. USB GPS modules are also supported and the geo-coordinates are saved in each individual image. The infrared camera and the mini PC have a total weight of 380 g. The infrared camera can be equipped with the camera models 'PI 450' (382 x 288 px) or the VGA camera 'PI 640' (640 x 480 px). Video recordings are possible at up to 80 Hz in QVGA resolution and up to 125 Hz in VGA sub-frame mode (640 x 120 px). Using the license-free analysis software 'PI Connect', sharp individual images can be extracted and analyzed from the video data. The cameras receive their power supply from the mini PC via USB and measure in the spectral range from 7.5 to 13 µm.
