The modular Schroff COM carrier from Pentair is based on the COM Express Type 6 specification and was designed so that standardized COM modules from different manufacturers can be used for new developments and only the carrier is adapted with the interfaces and additional functions. In addition to the usual interfaces such as Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0 and 3.0, 5.1 HD audio, DVI-D and display port on the front, additional RS-232 interfaces can be connected via optional cable adapters. The carrier also offers interfaces for expansion cards. Pentair develops plug-in modules for these interfaces, which expand the Carrier's range of functions accordingly. New plug-on modules are now available. In addition to the power input module with a wide-range input of 12 to 24 V, there is now a second, cheaper module with a limited voltage range of 19 to 24 V. Another plug-on module is the postcode module. It is based on a seven-segment display and is used to display errors during the boot process if a monitor cannot yet be connected. The third new plug-on module is an LVDS module, which is plugged onto the LVDS interface integrated on the carrier to connect TFT monitors integrated in the housing.
