03 - Newtec: Preventing dead ends in safety development
From the very beginning, NewTec's aim with the 'NTSafeFlex' platform was to provide manufacturers with a toolbox that would enable them to reduce the time and effort involved in developing new industrial applications with high safety requirements. With the two-channel reference design ('NTSafeFlex Board') and the associated certifiable safety library ('NTSafetyLib'), developments up to SIL-3 become much easier - for example, the development of functional prototypes for monitoring fast machine movements or for the safe control of actuators. The reference design of the NTSafeFlex board, whose two-channel architecture was originally based on two STM32G070 microcontrollers, is also available for other microcontrollers from ST and Microchip. It will also be successively expanded with controllers from other manufacturers. The modular NTSafetyLib makes it easier to switch between the microcontrollers used. Thanks to its modular design, it can also be used independently of the NTSafeFlex board. If one of the microcontrollers used is discontinued, the adaptations to an alternative controller are manageable.
