How do I systematically increase software security competence in mechanical and plant engineering? Digitalization in mechanical and plant engineering leads to new functionality, but at the same time opens up the possibility of cyber attacks, ranging from spying on sensitive data to gaining secret product and production knowledge to manipulating and disrupting operations.
For secure machines and systems, software security - as required by IEC 62443 - must be considered over the entire life cycle. However, manufacturers and integrators lack the necessary expertise for this. In addition, they are usually overwhelmed by the topic.

In this presentation, we will introduce our new Security Belts maturity model for mechanical and plant engineering. The maturity model supports agile teams to increase their software security competence step by step independently and cost-efficiently and thus increase the security of their products.
