With a free firmware update, Turck's IP67 RFID interfaces are suitable for barrier-free communication in the IIoT, for example for identifying and tracking products. While the OPC UA server including AutoID Companion Specification V.1.01 ensures direct communication with MES, PLC, ERP or cloud systems, the HF bus mode is intended to offer cost benefits for applications with many reading points. Following the update, the TBEN-L5-4RFID-8DXP-OPC-UA supports HF bus mode, which allows up to 32 HF read/write readers to be connected to each RFID input. With four RFID channels per module, up to 128 reading points can be recorded and parameterized centrally. The firmware also enables the continuous reading of UID/EPC or RFID user data. This means that an MES or SAP system can receive and process data as an event notification without executing a method. The web server enables web-based configuration of the OPC UA server including the UHF parameters and provides UHF tools for testing the reading of data carriers.
