With SecurityServer 4.0, Utimaco is launching a new generation of hardware security modules (HSM) onto the market. In addition to extensive IT/OT functions, it takes into account the security requirements of the Internet of Things in the industrial environment (Industrial IoT) for the first time. With the current version, the company is providing the universal HSM as a flexibly adaptable platform that can be integrated into existing and future software solutions and systems. The most important new functions include configurable, role-based access control, which supports numerous strict security requirements in the administration of the HSM - from role-based multi-person authentication to quorum authentication with up to 15 users per group. User-specific roles can be defined as an option. Another feature is the hardened interface: Users can deactivate unused or critical interface functions that are not required in the context of the application, thus ensuring that the use of the HSM is restricted to the selected functionalities. The administration-only operating mode enables a clear separation between system administration and the security function.
