Medical devices and protective equipment must have a declaration of conformity. This is a prerequisite for the CE mark and therefore for marketing in Europe. The VDE checks the declaration of conformity for plausibility. This check allows a quick initial assessment of whether a product on offer may be marketed and comes from reputable sources.

Due to the current challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the VDE is making the VDE check for medical devices and protective equipment available to hospitals, medical practices and care facilities free of charge until further notice.
