The intelligent Roba-brake-checker module from Mayr Antriebstechnik is used for brake monitoring. With a new version of the module, even small brake sizes from a braking torque of 2 Nm can be supplied and monitored thanks to finer evaluation. The 'Roba-brake-checker' module works without sensors. Thanks to an extended analysis of current and voltage, it detects the movement of the armature disk and 'knows' what state the brake is in. In addition to switching status, temperature and wear, the module also monitors the traction reserve, i.e. whether the solenoid is still able to attract the armature plate. The new module therefore monitors significantly more parameters than microswitches and initiators. When the tensile force reserve is reached, it sends a warning signal so early that a certain amount of brake operating time is still possible. In an extended version, the Roba-brake-checker can provide data on switching time, current, voltage, resistance, power and relative application current via an optical interface in addition to the pure signal. An evaluation program informs the customer whether action is required.
