Siemens is expanding its portfolio of 'Sirius' protection and switching devices: There are now modernized versions of the 3RT1 contactors and the 3RB2 overload relays in the power range from 55 to 250 kW and 50 to 630 A respectively. Versions for direct control from fail-safe control systems are available for contactors from 55 to 250 kW. This means that the coupling level previously required for fail-safe operation can be omitted, which reduces the amount of devices, space, wiring and interfaces required. In addition, SIL 2 can be achieved with just one contactor or SIL 3 with two contactors in series in accordance with IEC 62061.
