Bihl+Wiedemann is launching three AS-i 3.0 EtherNet/IP+Modbus TCP gateways onto the market. The BWU3734, BWU3735 and BWU3736 gateways each have an integrated server as an interface to the OPC UA open communication protocol. The universal, standardized cross-platform interface OPC UA enables data access across all automation, IT, MES and ERP levels up to the cloud, the standardized networking of components from different manufacturers and the analysis, processing and display of data on different devices such as smartphones or tablets. According to the manufacturer, the gateways' hardware platform offers a significantly improved cycle time via Ethernet: Even at maximum data transmission, the RPI remains under 1 ms. A web server makes many of the gateways' functions available via the network and can also be used with mobile devices. Extended diagnostic functions such as double address detection, earth fault monitors and EMC monitors are also onboard. The gateways are available as a single master ("BWU3734"), as a double master with one power supply unit per AS-i circuit ("BWU3735") and as a double master in the "one gateway, one power supply unit for two AS-i circuits" version ("BWU3736").
