Current productsNews from industrial image processing
Cameras, vision sensors, lighting and complete image processing systems - the range of products on offer in industrial image processing is diverse. Computer&AUTOMATION presents the latest products from spring 2018 in a series of images.

Conventional silicon-based CMOS image sensors are limited to a restricted wavelength range due to their technology; they are usually set to the visible part of the light. If light in the near infrared range (NIR) is to be detected, hybrid solutions are usually used, for example the combination of indium gallium arsenide (InGaAs) on CMOS. Organic photodiodes are an alternative: The organic layers are easy to integrate at wafer level and are therefore cost-effective. At the same time, depending on the material system, they also have a high sensitivity outside the visible wavelength range. Scientists at Fraunhofer FEP have developed an array of organic photodiodes with SVGA resolution (800 × 600 pixels) that is sensitive in the wavelength range up to 1000 nanometers. With appropriate material adaptations, application-specific organic photodiodes can be developed on this basis.
