VDMA speaks out in favor of trade fairs

The VDMA is certain that strong mechanical engineering exports need strong industrial trade fairs and supports the German government's efforts to make it easier for trade fair visitors and exhibitors to enter Germany.

The VDMA is certain that international industrial trade fairs are an important platform for consolidating the global competitive strength of the German mechanical and plant engineering industry. "Many leading trade fairs for mechanical and plant engineering take place in Germany. This is an invaluable advantage for our medium-sized industry with its 1.3 million employees," says VDMA Managing Director Thilo Brodtmann. "Innovations are presented at trade fairs, the world meets in Germany. Most of these are capital goods that require explanation, so face-to-face discussions are essential. The German government has therefore made the right decision to make it easier for trade fair exhibitors and visitors to enter Germany. We appeal to the federal states to finally do away with the multitude of quarantine rules and to agree on uniform guidelines nationwide," demands Brodtmann.

Many international industrial trade fairs take place in Germany. This is where exhibitors from Germany and all over the world present their technological expertise to a broad international audience, providing impetus for technical progress and social change.

Philip Harting, CEO of Harting and Chairman of AUMA, emphasizes the importance of trade fairs for the image of German industry: "Trade fairs in Germany also create a particularly close connection to international customers. This is because the often short distances make it possible to invite visitors to the company's own plants and convince them of product quality made in Germany. Trade fairs are therefore an ideal meeting point for future business, especially for SMEs."
