Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Brigitte Zypries honored innovative ideas from the field of information and communication technology at the 'Digital Innovations Start-up Competition' at Cebit 2017. Computer&AUTOMATION shows the developments of the 20 start-ups in a picture gallery.
The founding team Zolitron has developed a system with which electricity can be generated from light, heat and vibration and, above all, stored. This so-called 'micro energy harvesting' is intended to make batteries superfluous in devices with low power consumption. For example, the technology can be used to convert the vibration of industrial machines into energy and store it. The basic technology has already led to the first business model: the 'Powernode S' sensor network developed by Zolitron. This network consists of many sensors that are able to detect changes in the room - such as changes in temperature, humidity, light, acceleration and magnetic field. The sensors are used, for example, to monitor windows and doors in smart homes. Battery replacement technology eliminates the need to change batteries, devices can be manufactured smaller and permanent functionality can be ensured.
