Focus on scalable HMIs and Computer-on-Modules

Seco used SPS 2023 to present its "Modular Vision" HMI family and other new products for the first time. These included the SMARC module "SOM-SMARC-Genio 700" and other Computer-on-Modules (COMs).

Seco presented three different versions of the scalable "Modular Vision" HMI family for the first time at SPS 2023. With the newly developed platform concept, developers of embedded systems and OEMs can develop customer designs quickly and scale them easily. Modular Vision is suitable for cross-industry applications and is based on Seco's core technologies - Arm and x86.

Scalable HMI family

The Modular Vision series currently comprises three members in 7-, 10- and 15-inch sizes, with resolutions ranging from 1024 × 600 to Full HD (1920 × 1080) and a brightness of >400 cd/m². Further diagonals and resolutions will follow. Scalable refers not only to the display size and image resolution, but also to the performance of the integrated electronics. Seco sells its HMIs as standalone panel PCs or as OEM products that can be integrated into the respective application using various adapters.

The "Modular Vision 7MX93" entry-level models with a 7-inch display contain the "i.MX93" application processor from the manufacturer NXP Semiconductors as the core component and are equipped with up to 2 GB LPDDR4-3200 memory. Interfaces such as Gigabit Ethernet, RS485, CAN, RS232, USB and digital I/O are available.

The central element of the 10-inch high-end HMI "10.1 MX8M-Plus" is the "i.MX8M Plus" application processor from NXP. The devices contain up to 6 GB LPDDR4-4000 memory and have the same interfaces as the 7-inch models. The HMIs also contain the very powerful internal GPU "GC7000UL".

The "Modular Vision 15.6 EHL" models with a 15.6-inch display have also been designed for high-end applications and are based on the Intel Atom x6000E series processors, as well as the Pentium, Celeron N and J series. They contain quad-channel LPDDR4 memory and an integrated Gen11 UHD graphics controller for driving three independent displays.

SMARC 2.1-compatible CoM module

Another new product from Seco is the SMARC-2.1-compatible Computer-on-Module "SOM-SMARC-Genio 700". Developers of embedded and other electronic systems can use the module to develop sophisticated industrial applications in a short space of time. With the CoM in the SMARC form factor, developers can realize fanless industrial applications that have to meet high demands on graphics or AI performance.

At the heart of the module is the "Octa-Core Genio 700" application processor from MediaTek, which was developed for industrial IoT products and enables applications with high performance and low power consumption. The Genio 700 is a 6nm IoT chipset and features two Arm Cortex-A78 cores at 2.2 GHz and six Arm Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0 GHz as well as a 4.0 TOPs AI accelerator.

CLEA - IoT platform for automation

Due to the great interest at embedded world 2023, Seco decided to bring its IoT platform "CLEA" to SPS 2023. CLEA is a fully integrated, yet open IoT platform that enables developers to create scalable and flexible applications thanks to its modular concept. CLEA can be used to collect, visualize and evaluate data from various devices and systems. CLEA also integrates and adapts existing AI algorithms and applications that can be used to turn data into valuable information for data-based decisions and new business models.
