Two new relay modules complete the R. Stahl product range for Zone 1 hazardous areas: the 9174 and 9177 series relay modules with a space requirement of just 12 mm.

Relay module type 9177 enables the galvanically isolated switching of intrinsically safe (Ex i) and non-intrinsically safe (Ex e) circuits, both AC and DC, based on an electromechanical relay. Both Ex i and Ex e circuits can be connected to the coil and contact connections in any combination. This allows up to four operating modes with one relay module. The electronic relay module type 9174/12-15-01 allows the switching of AC loads up to 5 A by intrinsically safe (Ex i) or optionally non-intrinsically safe (Ex e) control. If the relay module is controlled using an intrinsically safe signal (Ex i), it is an ideal addition to remote I/O systems, according to supplier R. Stahl. Thanks to the integrated protection for the contact and coil circuit, no further protection is required.
