Connectors for digitization at field level

IMS Connector Systems has developed an intelligent connector with a Bluetooth interface in M12 format that relocates sensor functions previously installed in machine modules and components to the connection technology.

With 'SmartMod' from IMS Connector Systems, machine and system operators can continuously monitor the values for voltage, current and power as well as the PCB temperature. Impairments to the power supply caused by cable kinks, cable breaks or a lack of power supply are detected at an early stage and can be clearly localized. This makes the connector suitable for condition monitoring of heavily used cables such as energy chains for industrial robots and production systems or for connecting measurement components with particularly small designs. As existing cabling, pin assignments and communication protocols can be used unchanged, the connector is also ideal for retrofit measures. The measurement data can be transmitted via Bluetooth over distances of up to 40 m indoors and 100 m outdoors.
