Sustainable technologies and specific measures to conserve resources will be demonstrated at several stations along a gypsum production process, from extraction in the quarry to logistics in the outgoing goods department. These include reducing oil consumption in the gearbox by up to 30%, the use of digital twins, segmented gear rims that allow partial retrofitting and the use of intelligent condition monitoring to sustainably minimize downtimes. Other solutions that SEW-Eurodrive will be presenting are also fully focused on sustainability. The Eco2 version for geared motors, for example, allows resources to be conserved and costs to be saved. This is because the drives in an aluminum housing are available without any coating or painting for applications in closed rooms that are well protected from heat, cold or moisture. For these conditions, the energy-intensive coating and painting process can be completely omitted, especially as aluminum is not susceptible to corrosion. Another advantage is that, unlike painted gearbox housings, the uncoated components can be recycled more easily and in a more environmentally friendly manner at a later date.
