Positive despite political turbulence

All segments in the automation industry performed well at the start of the year, as Dr. Gunther Kegel, Chairman of the Board of the ZVEI Automation Association, announced at the Hannover Messe 2019. A look back at the previous year is also positive for the association.

"The automation industry has no reason to complain," said Dr. Gunther Kegel at the presentation of the Automation Association's figures at Hannover Messe 2019. "2019 will still be a year of growth overall. There is no need to worry!"

"Overall, the situation is better than the currently perceptible mood," is the assessment of Dr. Gunter Kegel from the ZVEI Automation Association. "We expect mid-single-digit growth in incoming orders for the German automation industry in 2019," says Kegel.

The ZVEI sees its forecast for 2018 confirmed: with global incoming orders in the high single-digit range. The German automation industry is also well positioned with 278,000 employees and sales of around 55 billion euros. Process automation generated around 24 billion euros. The outlook for 2019 remains positive: all industry segments are developing well at the start of 2019. Growth drivers are Asia and South America, particularly India and Brazil. Business in Europe and Russia is mixed, but positive. "We now have to wait and see what Brexit and the European elections bring. We are also seeing a slight slowdown in business in China," says Dr. Gunther Kegel.
