Pneumatics makes technological leap

With Festo's 'Controlled Pneumatics' compressed air technology, the 'VTEP' proportional valve terminal achieves sensitive pressure control down to less than 1 mbar. According to the supplier, the technology also uses piezo valves to reduce compressed air consumption by up to 50 %.

At less than 120 mm wide, the proportional valve terminal is the most compact proportional valve terminal for pressure control with ten working channels on the market, according to Festo. It can be easily integrated for multi-channel applications - in two-, three- or five-channel versions. Pressure and vacuum can be combined in the control range of 6 bar. The directly controlled valve terminal uses piezo technology, which makes the pneumatics highly precise, fast and economical with the appropriate control technology. The valves are therefore noiseless, wear-free, without particle abrasion or heat generation. In addition, the valve terminal is free of copper, nickel and zinc, making it suitable for battery production and other industrial segments in which these materials are not desired.

With 'Controlled Pneumatics', Festo combines proportional technology, sensor technology and control algorithms to form a control loop. This technology opens up new fields of application for pneumatics in terms of pressure, flow and movement - and, according to the supplier, also makes conventional production more efficient. Last but not least, the high-precision piezo valves reduce the consumption of compressed air by up to 50%, as it can be perfectly metered.
