Transmission division of the WEG Group
New Managing Director in Europe
The drive technology provider WEG has appointed Klaus Sirrenberg as Managing Director of its subsidiaries: Watt Drive Antriebstechnik based in Austria, Watt Drive in Unna and Württembergische Elektromotoren in Balingen.
With immediate effect, Klaus Sirrenberg succeeds the previous Managing Director Wolfgang Meyer, who will take on a leading position in sales for generators in Europe. Sirrenberg's duties in his current position as Director Low Voltage Products at WEG in Germany will be taken over with immediate effect by Wilmar Henning, Managing Director of WEG Germany. For Sirrenberg, the appointment as Managing Director of the Watt Drive Group means a return to an old place of activity: he had already held various management positions in the company before the gearbox specialist was taken over by WEG in 2011. One of the most important tasks of the newly appointed Managing Director will be the global market launch of the new 'WG20' geared motor series.
After studying electrical engineering in Hagen, Klaus Sirrenberg began his career as a sales engineer in the field at E. Bauer in Esslingen, an international supplier of geared motors and drive electronics. Sirrenberg then moved to Seidel Elektro-Automatik in Düsseldorf as a sales engineer for control and switch cabinet construction. A year later, he joined Stöber Antriebstechnik, a supplier of geared motors, planetary gearboxes and drive electronics, as sales area manager for North-West Germany. In April 2002, he joined the Watt Drive Group as Managing Director of Watt Drive GmbH in Unna, Germany. In 2010, in addition to his position as Managing Director in Germany, he was given responsibility for international sales for the Watt Drive Group. He was also Deputy Chairman of the Group's Supervisory Board from 2009 to 2011. With the takeover of the Watt Drive Group by WEG in November 2011, he was appointed Director Low Voltage Products at WEG Germany. In this role, he was previously responsible for sales of WEG's low-voltage products in Germany.
