The VDMA has announced the figures for global machine sales. According to the figures, this fell by a nominal 1% to 2530 billion euros in 2016. Germany, on the other hand, saw a slight increase.

Asia remained the largest region by a clear margin (equivalent to EUR 1,395 billion, previous year: EUR 1,390 billion), generating more than half of total global machinery sales. Europe came a distant second (down 1% to EUR 722 billion), followed by North America (down 5% to EUR 360 billion).
