Festo - Pneumatic cobot
Festo is launching what it claims is the world's first pneumatic cobot. According to the company, it is more cost-effective than electric cobots in this class. It is primarily used for handling small parts with payloads of up to 3 kg and consists of the hardware, a hand module and the 'Robotic Suite', software for intuitive commissioning and programming. The cobot can be commissioned and programmed in less than an hour, and pneumatic drives allow the robot arm to be easily guided by hand without resistance. Due to the flexibility of the pneumatic drives, the cobot acts sensitively. The cobot's pneumatic direct drives and its low weight reduce its contact energy. The Cobot does not require an additional control cabinet, but integrates the control system in its own base. Thanks to lightweight construction methods, the Cobot weighs 17 kg and has a reach of 670 mm.
