The previous world acceleration record for electric cars has been broken: students from ETH Zurich and Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts recently set it with their electric racing car 'grimsel': The vehicle accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.513 seconds.

The electric car from the Zurich Academic Motorsport Association (AMZ) accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.513 seconds at the Dübendorf military airfield near Zurich - and this over a distance of around 30 meters. According to the student team, no production vehicle - not even one with a combustion engine - has ever achieved a comparable acceleration.
