The N5 controller from Nanotec is also available in a version with Ethernet/IP and Modbus/TCP fieldbus interfaces. Together with the existing CANopen and Ethercat variants, this enables flexible connection to various higher-level controllers. Both BLDC and stepper motors are controlled via the controller in a field-oriented manner and can be operated in torque, speed and position mode. The controller can be programmed in the 'Nano-J V2' programming language so that time-critical subtasks can be executed directly in the controller independently of the fieldbus communication. In the low-current version, the controller is designed for an operating voltage of 12 to 72 V, with a rated current of 10 A. In the high-current version, the operating voltage is between 12 and 48 V, the rated current is 10 A and the peak current is 54 A. The controller has six digital and two analog inputs as well as two digital outputs and an input for a 5 V/24 V encoder and optional Hall sensors; a holding brake can also be controlled.
