The Kuhnke FIO Drive Control from Kendrion, which is also approved for the American and Canadian markets, can be used universally for the operation of both stepper motors and brushless DC motors with up to 15 A peak current. The Ethercat interface can be easily used by an Ethercat master via a bus coupler.
