Federal Mechatronics Performance Center in Esslingen
In future, Germany's best mechatronics engineers will train at the Festo training center for the international WorldSkills championships.
The training center is officially the national training center for the WorldSkills mechatronics competitions. "This means that we are not only passing on our training expertise to our own trainees, but also to trainees from other companies who will form the national mechatronics team at the next WorldSkills Shanghai in 2022," says Stefan Dietl, Head of Training at Festo.
The Modular Production Systems (MPS) from Festo Didactic form the basis for the competitions and mechatronics training in general. The mechatronics competitions of the World Skills Championships have been held on these systems since the WorldSkills in 1991. The MPS learning system teaches trainees basic skills and specialist knowledge in automation technology and mechatronics. As a didactically prepared and simulated production line, the stations offer an insight into the interaction of successive processes in an industrial production environment. The tasks consist of setting up and commissioning the system: connecting the components, installing the sensors and programming the processes. These basic skills form the basis for further qualification in state-of-the-art Industry 4.0 technologies such as control technology, web store, artificial intelligence and robotics at the more complex MPS learning factories.
