Newly discovered enzyme decomposes PET in record time
The University of Leipzig has discovered an enzyme that can break down polyethylene terephthalate (PET) in a short space of time. The enzyme, which the researchers found in a compost heap, could make biological PET recycling possible much faster than previously assumed.
