What do self-employed design engineers earn and where in Germany are they most in demand? Which design software is most in demand? The personnel service provider Gulp examined these questions in a recent market study.
According to the 'Market study for self-employed design engineers 2018' by the personnel service provider Gulps, design engineers are most frequently sought for projects in the south of Germany: One in five project inquiries are for the greater Munich area (= zip code region 8). The demand for projects around Stuttgart (zip code region 7) is only slightly lower. According to Gulp, this picture is not least due to the headquarters of automotive giants BMW, Audi, Daimler and Porsche as well as many supplier companies. Mechanical and plant engineering is also particularly present in Baden-Württemberg. In third place is zip code region 6 around Frankfurt.
