Sensors
Using a technology stack for intelligence
In most cases, today's sensors are simple measured value or data converters that supply a higher-level central intelligence system - such as a PLC - with measurement data via fairly simple interfaces.
However, the challenges of the future will require sensors that can make autonomous decisions on site or already have their own product cloud ex works, which enables intelligent expansion functions. With Thinglyfied 2, SSV offers a technology stack consisting of hardware and software that is intended as the basis for highly intelligent sensors. In addition to the CAD data for an embedded module with operating system and web or NFC-based configuration interface, a connectivity software suite with various automation, IoT, Industry 4.0 and security protocols is also available. The technology stack also includes various statistical software components for frequency distribution analysis of measurement data or for real-time regression analysis with permanent prediction of the further development of a dependent variable. Further data analysis modules enable sensor product features through to embedded AI. The platform-independent software modules can be integrated directly into a sensor using an embedded micro-gateway or executed in a cloud. The result is a highly intelligent sensor that can make its own decisions based on internal data models, for example to reorder operating resources or spare parts, independently request a service technician or stop a conveyor belt or the compressed air supply in a production facility before major damage occurs.
