Position measurement in confined spaces
The 'Acuro AM34' absolute encoder from Hengstler has an installation depth of less than 20 mm and therefore enables the design of servomotors with very small dimensions.
With a positioning accuracy of ±120 angular seconds, the encoder from Hengstler is particularly suitable for use in servo drives. It is bearingless and therefore generates hardly any intrinsic heat, meaning that servo motors with these encoders can be operated in the highest speed range, according to the supplier. The resolution of the encoder is 16 to 20 bits in the singleturn version and 12 bits in the multiturn version. The operating temperature range is specified as -40 to +120 °C. The absolute encoder is designed for speeds up to a maximum of 12,000 rpm and has a BiSS/SSI interface for digital automation. As the encoder also has an electronic data sheet (EDS), servomotors can be installed by the user within a short space of time. For drive technology manufacturers, integrating the rotary encoder into their motors is also very easy thanks to the large mounting tolerances (±0.5 mm axial, ±0.1 mm radial).
