VDMA Vice President Carl Martin Welcker confirmed his association's forecast that the mechanical engineering industry in Germany is only expecting real production to stagnate this year - as was the case last year.

In all commodity-consuming countries, machinery manufacturers benefited from lower commodity prices. In the euro partner countries, the lower external value of the euro also boosted their economies somewhat and thus also increased demand for machinery.
