iC-Haus has added the iC-MHL100 to its product family of integrated system solutions for linear and rotary incremental encoder applications. The sensor layout of the programmable 12-bit position encoder is designed for magnetic pole pitches of 1 mm, which means that travel resolutions of less than 0.5 µm can be achieved. The universal component is compatible with the 'iC-MHL200', which scans pole pitches of 2 mm. Users can now achieve twice the resolution without having to adapt the evaluation electronics or the electrical layout. The 'iC-MHL100' is suitable for robust incremental linear or angular encoders of all types. In addition, only a measuring scale in the form of a magnetized tape or pole wheel is required. The component in the TSSOP20 housing contains a linear Hall sensor array that is adapted to targets with a magnetic pole width of 1 mm. For space-critical applications, the encoder IC is optionally available in the QFN32-5x5 housing. The internal signal amplification control compensates for fluctuations in the Hall sensor signals and thus automatically compensates for changes in temperature and working distance. Incremental (ABZ, 12 bit) and commutation signals (UVW) are provided via the integrated RS422 line drivers. A bidirectional or synchronous SSI/BiSS-C interface is available as a serial data interface.
