According to the manufacturer Schmersal, the SLB 240/440/450 series of single-beam safety light barriers with integrated evaluation have an extremely small design. The "SLB 240/440" with cable connection or with plug connection can be integrated into very confined installation spaces. Both models have a range of 15 m, while the "SLB 450" achieves a maximum range of 75 m. The single light beam safety devices have safe semiconductor outputs (2 × PNP) and can be integrated directly into the safety circuit without an external safety evaluation unit. The product family meets the requirements for all type 2 or type 4 applications in accordance with IEC 61496. They are also used for process protection, for example in high-bay warehouses, where object detection and height detection are used to detect deviations from predefined positions during the autonomous transport of packaged products, thus preventing collisions and damage. The "SLB 450" version is optionally equipped with integrated heating and is suitable for use down to -30 °C. All versions have a visual set-up aid. In addition, they are equipped with a 4-fold coding stage so that up to four pairs of sensors can be operated in one direction without mutual interference when using several light barriers on one application.
