With the magnetic force sensor fSENS MLS, Hirschmann MCS offers a way of weighing containers during the loading process. Whether RTG, RMG, STS cranes, reach stackers or straddle carriers - the weighing process takes place during container handling by means of force measurement at the 'twistlock'. According to the provider, the static or dynamic weighing process takes little time and can be easily integrated into existing logistics processes. The cumbersome addition of individual weights is no longer necessary. The company relies on a magnetic and non-contact measuring method: The sensor is mounted in the spreader above the twistlock guide and surrounds the twistlock without touching it. When a load is applied, the twistlock stretches and returns to its original state when the load is released. The sensor generates a magnetic field that changes during the stretching process. The sensor calculates the force from the change in the magnetic field. A measuring accuracy of <1 % can be ensured. The non-contact measuring principle also ensures that zero-point drift due to overloads is prevented. As the sensor is not located in the force flow, it cannot be exposed to overloads and users do not have to worry about bending or sensor breakage. Due to the installation situation, the sensor does not move when the twistlock is locked and unlocked. As a result, there is no wear due to continuous alternating loads or a risk of failure due to cable breakage. The sensor complies with protection class IP67 and is resistant to salt water.
