One example is the multiturn sensors in the RSM-2800/RMB-3600 series, which use the GMR effect (Giant Magneto Resistance) in addition to the Hall effect. They provide absolute position values, do not require reference signals and do not need a power supply or buffer battery to record the rotations. The measuring range is up to 16 revolutions, the measured value is output in analog form or via SPI or SSI interface. IO-Link is implemented. During commissioning, parameters such as the zero point or direction of rotation can be easily changed. In addition to the position information, further information such as status or diagnostic messages can be exchanged.
