Color sensors
ams takes over Mazet
The Austrian sensor manufacturer ams has acquired 100% of the shares in Mazet, a provider of color and spectral sensor systems. The strategic acquisition expands ams' offering in the field of optical sensors.
ams is a supplier of analog ICs and sensors and acquires Mazet, a specialist for color and spectral sensor systems. Mazet has extensive system and application know-how for sophisticated color and spectral sensor technology. The company is also successful in the development of optical systems, such as IC and filter development or system development of hardware and software. Mazet employs around 80 people in Jena.
Dr. Fred Grunert, Managing Director of Mazet, says: "Mazet is a pioneer in the development of optical color and spectral sensors, and we are delighted to now become part of ams." The combination of the two companies' complementary products and sensor competencies strengthens their position with their comprehensive portfolio of optical sensors for the automotive, industrial, medical and smart lighting target markets.
Thomas Riener, Executive Vice President & General Manager Emerging Sensor Solutions at ams, comments on the acquisition: "Mazet's optical know-how enables us to open up new product and application opportunities in areas such as the measurement and control of light, the detection of physical parameters or the matching of the colors of a screen with the real environment."
