SafetyNews from safety-related automation
With increasing cycle rates, machine functions are becoming ever more complex - against this background, the topic of functional safety is becoming increasingly important. Computer&AUTOMATION shows a selection of current products relating to this topic in a picture gallery.

The KFM -24/48 machine safety gate drive in a low-voltage version with integrated Profinet from Siei-Areg has the PLc and SIL1 safety functions as well as a servomotor, which makes a gearbox superfluous in many applications. In terms of function, installation and commissioning, the compact safety gate drive is similar to the two existing safety gate drives 'KFM05a' and 'KFM Safety'. Plug connectors make it easy to replace the drive. Low voltages of 24 V or 48 V (direct or alternating voltage up to 60 Hz) are sufficient for the power supply. The efficiency of the drive is over 90 %. It generates very little heat during operation.
