The new ControlLogix Ethernet/IP communication modules from Allen-Bradley are among the first industrial devices on the market to use ODVA's 'CIP Security' protocol. In manufacturing operations, CIP Security ensures that the correct information is transmitted between devices - without unauthorized access or data theft. CIP Security is the first industrial automation protocol to support Transport Layer Security (TLS), the most proven security standard on the market. According to the manufacturer, the recently improved ControlLogix 5580 controllers are the first controllers in the world to be certified in accordance with IEC 62443-4-2, currently the most stringent security standard for control systems. This standard defines the technical security requirements for industrial automation and control components and is based on the certification of the Rockwell Automation Security Development Lifecycle (SDL) according to the IEC 62443-4-1 standard from 2018.
