German industry is increasingly being targeted by criminals: This is the result of a study for which the digital association Bitkom surveyed 503 managing directors and security managers:
During the survey, particular attention was paid to the extent to which companies are affected by their level of digitalization. Experts actually assume that increasing networking also leads to increasing security risks. However, the results show that the opposite is the case. The proportion of affected industrial companies that rate their level of digitalization as high is 7% lower than that of companies that rate their level of digitalization as low. According to Bitkom, the reason for this is that companies that are increasingly dealing with digitalization and establishing strategies, for example, are automatically more aware of the issue of IT security.
