Automatica 2016The winners of the Startup World Awards
The Oberpfaffenhofen Application Center has selected clever innovations from young industrial automation and service robotics companies at Automatica. These include a 3D ultrasonic sensor, a multi-axis scanner and a mobile robot case.

The 'TeraRanger Tower' product from French start-up Terabee is a scanner that uses several static sensors instead of conventional rotating or mechanical elements. The advantage: no motor is required, so the 'TeraRanger Tower' works very quietly and with very little wear. According to the Oberpfaffenhofen Application Center, the non-rotating, simultaneous multi-axis scanner has great potential to replace conventional lidar scanners. The TOF cameras (3D camera systems that measure distances using the time-of-flight method) require little energy and are absolutely safe for the eyes. Weighing just 130 grams, the scanner is particularly suitable for use on lightweight robots. Areas of application include simultaneous localization and mapping and collision avoidance of fast-moving robots or drones.
