The company WHN Technologies ultimately won the Robotics Award 2016 with its X-Arm robotic hand. The robotic hand consists of a modular multi-axis module that can be freely adjusted and rotated in all three spatial directions at the end of a hand-guided manipulator. This allows tools or other loads attached to the robotic hand to be positioned precisely in any spatial position. With this solution, Deutsche Messe emphasizes the combination of handling device (manipulator) and industrial robot arm. This allows complex and varied assembly tasks to be partially automated easily and flexibly. The main area of application for this is the automotive industry, but there is also demand in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, according to the company. The X-Arm is already in use at the BMW plant in Dingolfing and at Heidenhain in Traunreut.
