Robotics competitionRoboCup 2017 season opens
The robotics competition 'RoboCup' has entered a new round. Registration for the German preliminary round - the 'RoboCup German Open' - has been open since mid-October. Those who qualify for the RoboCup Junior Final will compete at the RoboCup World Championship 2017 in Japan.

... first place in the 'Open Source Prize', which the Harting Technology Group has been awarding this year to the best open source solution among the participants. The reason for the first place: with their robot 'NimbRo', the team from the University of Bonn not only provides plans for manufacturing the robot using a 3D printer, but also the necessary software. Other teams can thus incorporate improvements directly into the printing plans and accelerate the expansion of the platform. This makes it easier for many teams to enter the competitions; they can devote themselves directly to important research questions.
