Korea's manufacturing industry has by far the highest robot density in the world - more than eight times the global average. In 2017, however, robot sales fell by 4% to 40,000 units. The main driver of this development was the electrical/electronics industry: robot installations in this sector fell by 18% in 2017. In the previous year, installations of industrial robots had peaked at 41,400 units.
