Agentless remote access to industrial plants

TeamViewer has introduced 'Agentless Access', an extension of the 'Tensor' enterprise platform. The function enables industrial companies to securely maintain machines and control systems remotely without having to install software locally on the devices.

The approach addresses a key challenge faced by many manufacturing companies: IT managers demand zero trust, auditability and clear rules for access and control - at least since NIS2 - while the teams responsible for production technology (OT) prioritize speed, availability and minimal intervention in running systems. With the increasing digitalization and networking of production, the attack surfaces of industrial systems are also increasing. Production environments that used to be isolated are now part of complex IT and OT networks and are therefore potentially vulnerable. Companies therefore need solutions that protect critical systems, avoid downtime and at the same time meet compliance and control requirements.

Agentless Access supports IT and OT teams alike. In future, manufacturers and machine builders will be able to access PLCs, HMIs or engineering stations directly without having to install software agents on the respective devices. This makes it easier to access validated, closed or older systems that were previously not allowed to be changed for security or certification reasons.

In combination with 'Hybrid Conditional Access', 'Tensor' offers a complete solution for secure and controlled remote access in highly segmented production networks. With features such as protocol isolation, granular access control and full audit logs, the platform also meets the requirements of modern cybersecurity and compliance policies.
