Youth research 2017Young researchers called to the 52nd round
"The future - I'm shaping it!" - This is the motto for a new round of the youth research competition. Young people who enjoy and are interested in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology can now apply with their research project.
Martial artists practise the same movements over and over again. This can be boring and risky for the training partner. Manuel Rieger (18), Joseph Beerel (18) and Karl Christian Lautenschläger (17) therefore developed the 'MC RoBeK' training robot. They constructed its body from steel profiles using a 3D CAD program. The robot consists of a head, shoulders, arms, pelvis and legs and is fixed to the floor. The young researchers developed and programmed the joints and the control via pneumatic cylinders in such a way that the machine performs the typical flapping movements as authentically as possible and with varying force. To do this, they integrated suitable sensors and programmed various training units.
