"The future - I'm shaping it!" - This is the motto for a new round of the youth research competition. Young people who enjoy and are interested in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology can now apply with their research project.

This year's winner of the "Prize for the Most Original Work", sponsored by the German Chancellor, wants to prevent drones from being misused for espionage purposes or even terrorist attacks: Tassilo Schwarz (17) from Seeon has developed a special defense system - a technology that can detect unwanted drones and determine their position. The principle: two digital cameras record the airspace to be monitored in stereo. If a drone enters the airspace, the system uses sophisticated software to target it and track its flight path.
